Incident Response at Central-Wan Chai Bypass Tunnel with Comprehensive Air Quality Monitoring in Hong Kong
  • Sector:Tunnel, Parking and Transportation Hubs
  • Location:Central, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
  • In response to a ventilation system malfunction at Tunnel East Ventilation Building in Hong Kong, Sapiens rapidly deployed multiple autonomous MAD-AF300 monitoring stations to provide real-time air quality data focused on oxides of nitrogen and PM for the tunnel and surrounding areas. This monitoring data supplemented the Highway Department’s investigation, helping to assess the environmental impact and formulate emergency response solutions.

Real-time Odour Monitoring for Source Identification Near the Waterfront
  • Sector:VOCs and Odour Monitoring and Sampling
  • Location:Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong
  • In recent years, the complaints from citizens about the odour problem are continuously increasing, indicating that odour issues in cities need to be urgently addressed. In Hong Kong, the frequent stench emanating from the waterfront in Tsuen Wan also has aroused public attention and has prompted the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to take decisive action. Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department conducted a series of investigations with Sapiens' sensor to find out the source of the stench. Several NAS and MAS were strategically deployed in Tsuen Wan region near the potential

Effectiveness in Evaluating Roadside Air Quality for Milan Government
  • Sector:Traffic and Marine Emission
  • Location:Milan, Italy
  • The traffic emissions are generally monitored by the traditional fixed reference stations. However, those stations are not only expensive to operate, but also unable to monitor emission sources at a close range. This limited their effectiveness in studying local pollution problems. To better understand the traffic emissions in Milan, Italy, the city's environmental agency AMAT (Agenzia Mobilità Ambiente e Territorio) deployed three Sapiens MAS-AF300 in the city to evaluate the advanced air quality sensors compact station’s capability to detect exposure to vehicular traffic-related emission

High Density Sensor Network Inside Bus Terminus to Monitor Air Quality for Hotspot Identification
  • Sector:Tunnel, Parking and Transportation Hubs
  • Location:Kwai Chong, Bayview Garden, Shatin, Lam Tin, Hong Kong
  • The air quality inside the semi-enclosed bus terminus has been a great challenge in urban settings. Sapiens air sensors (NAS-AF300) is used in Hong Kong by government agencies to closely monitor the air pollutants of NO, NO2, CO, CO2 and PM2.5 from traffic emission inside the bus terminus. The high-density network creates a real time air pollution map to identify the hotspot of air pollution and diagnose the critical causes of the air pollution issues. It also helps to evaluate the effectiveness of the mitigation measures.

Safeguard Cultural Treasures The Last Supper
  • Sector:Heritage and Museum
  • Location:Milan, Italy
  • The microenvironment within a museum plays a crucial role in both visitor and staff health, as well as in the preservation of its collection. Air pollution can irreversibly damage and degrade historic buildings and ancient landmarks. To better protect Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, ‘The Last Supper’ from continuous fading, Sapiens has installed 20 indoor air quality (IAQ) monitors in the church in Milan, Italy, where the mural is housed. This setup provides comprehensive data on indoor air pollutants.

Shenzhen Yantian Port Long-term Emission Monitoring
  • Sector:Traffic and Marine Emission
  • Location:Shenzhen, China
  • The Pearl River Delta (PRD) stands as one of the three biggest port clusters in China, playing a vital role in the nation’s trade and transportation efficiency. However, this thriving development comes at a cost, as the shipping activities generate substantial emissions of greenhouse gases and pollutants, including CO2 and SO2. These emissions not only pose health risks to residents of coastal cities but also exacerbate air quality issues in the surrounding areas.

Targeted Pollution Control in Zhejiang Anji Industrial Park
  • Sector:Industrial Emission Monitoring
  • Location:Zhejiang, China
  • The Tianzihu Modern Industrial Park in Zhejiang China, faces challenges with air pollution due to industrial activities. To understand the spatial distribution and diffusion of pollutants, a five-day mobile monitoring campaign was conducted using MASEN-Pro vehicle-mounted sensor. The data revealed the need for a grid-based monitoring system to manage air quality effectively. The 34 units of NAS were also strategically deployed across the park. This combination of mobile monitoring with MASEN and fixed location monitoring with NAS has established a comprehensive monitoring network, ena

Supports Air Quality Monitoring at Hong Kong’s Eco Park
  • Sector:Industrial Emission Monitoring
  • Location:Eco Park, Hong Kong
  • The Eco Park operated by Hong Kong’s Environmental Protection Department (EPD), is the city's first facility dedicated to the recycling industry. To assist the EPD’s efforts, Sapiens has collaborated to deploy 10 of our compact air monitoring stations MAS-AF300, and wind sensors across the park grounds. These Sapiens solutions provide comprehensive, real-time data for PM2.5, PM10, NO2, O3, and CO on air quality within the park and surrounding areas. This valuable information helps the better understanding of the local environment and develop accurate air quality models for the region.

Roadside Monitoring in India for Traffic Emission Management
  • Sector:Traffic and Marine Emission Monitoring
  • Location:India, Mumbai
  • In India, road transportation serves as the primary mode for both goods delivery and passenger travel. The country's extensive road network, stretching across 4.7 million kilometers, significantly enhances the quality of life for citizens and promotes economic growth. However, the environmental and health risks associated with vehicular emissions cannot be overlooked. To advance the understanding of vehicle emission factors in India, Harish C. Phuleria from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has deployed Sapiens's high-performance, cost-effective sensors along the Panch-Shrishti-Comp
