Location
Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong
Parameters:
  • PM2.5, NO2, O3, CO, NO, TVOC, H2S, NH3

  • In recent years, the complaints from citizens about the odour problem are continuously increasing, indicating that odour issues in cities need to be urgently addressed. In Hong Kong, the frequent stench emanating from the waterfront in Tsuen Wan also has aroused public attention and has prompted the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to take decisive action.

  • Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department conducted a series of investigations with Sapiens' sensor to find out the source of the stench. Several NAS and MAS were strategically deployed in Tsuen Wan region near the potential odor sources, including to harbour running track, walking trail and park, providing real-time ordour information to the organization for evidence-based decision. The combination of odour monitors with meteorological analysis also assists the effective odor management and prevention for local community.

  • This long-term project, along with other surveys, such as the Ad hoc intensive H2S monitoring of the drain cap, provides a better understanding of odour formation and elimination.
